GOONJ
ANNOUNCED "TEACHER'S" AMBASSADOR & "STUDENT'S"
AMBASSADOR AWARDS programme at the meeting.
-
These awards
are an acknowledgement of teachers and students doing
exemplary work under the S2S programme. GOONJ will be
taking the Teacher and Student Ambassadors on an all
expense paid exposure trip to our beneficiary villages.
We will let you know more details in the coming month.
|
VISITING
RURAL SCHOOLS :.
- School
representatives told us that their students are keen on
visiting some rural schools where S2S is being implemented.
GOONJ will arrange these visits and the respective schools
will bear the cost.
|
RESULT
OF IRREGULAR SUPPLY FROM SCHOOLS :
-
A
hurdle, we discussed at length was the periodic dip in
interest and response from S2S partner urban schools.
Based on city schools enthusiastic commitment GOONJ commits
regular supply of school material to many village schools.
When the generation of material or response falls short
of commitment it signifies that the full potential of
the city schools is not being utilized. This in turn affects
the entire education system in the villages. The school
representatives present at the meeting better understood
the direct impact their work has on their village counterparts
& assured us of sustained efforts in motivating the
school management & students for continuity in organising
School to School.

GOONJ'S
RECYCLED PRODUCTS especially
schools mats, bags & notebooks made out of old/ usable
cloth and paper were well appreciated at the meeting.
|
ZONE
WISE URBANS SCHOOL MEET:
-
At
the end of the meeting it was clear that most partner
schools are, in their own ways, doing many good things
to motivate their students. As suggested unanimously by
the school representatives, GOONJ will be organizing zone
wise urban schools meet, to share these good practices,
to discuss hurdles, and to strategize on how to take S2S
further. These meets will be held at a partner school
in the respective area where all the neighboring school
representatives will come together.

DLF
PUBLIC SCHOOL, SAHIBABAD shared
some of the successful steps in the school to make S2S a great
success. The other schools appreciated the same.
- It's
the children of the school who have made S2S their own,
taking ownership and managing the programme.
- Presentation
about GOONJ and S2S made part of the Induction programme
at the time of the admission.
- Motivating
children to think of Birthdays as a day not only for receiving
but also for giving by contributing something new for one's
rural counterpart.
- Every
student donates 1-5 old newspaper by the 10th of every month.
The stack of the newspaper is kept neatly tied up outside
every class for the assigned person to collect and to be
counted. The class collecting the maximum newspapers, gets
a class incentive.
- Giving
the ownership and responsibility of the Once a month Newspaper
Day Collection to senior students of various social and
cultural clubs in the school. GOONJ sells these old newspapers
to raise funds for running S2S.
- Start
a Social Work Club for class 4th and 5th and the students
take up S2S campaign under the guidance of the teachers.
They prepare regular assembly presentations, update the
school and students on forthcoming GOONJ programs and further
echo the awareness into the hearts and minds of their fellow
students.
